Consider: the National Republican Congressional Committee ran this scare ad (invoking both Nancy Pelosi and Barack Obama) in an effort to defeat Democrat Don Cazayoux in a special election for Congress in Louisiana’s Sixth District. The seat had been held by a Republican for the 33 previous years.
Nevertheless Cazayoux won the election with 49 percent of the vote to his opponent’s 46 percent. This may not be a good year for the GOP.
It seems the fortunes of the Democrats and New Labour are– for understandable reasons– heading in opposite directions.
