Islamism

Arrest Anjem Choudary Today

Al Muhajiroun is an extension of the jihadist party, Hizb ut Tahrir. Its “Emir” is Omar Bakri Mohammed, who travelled to Lebanon, and has not been allowed back into the United Kingdom. It is a group which advocates and encourages acts of terrorism. In 2006, the Government banned Al-Ghurabaa and The Saved Sect, which is what Al Muhajiroun at that time called itself.

It now calls itself “Islam for the UK

It is clear that Al Muhajiroun is still in existence, and is being run by its old boss, Anjem Choudary. Indeed, the site gives Choudary and Omar Bakri Mohammed’s phone numbers as contacts. They have organised a “youth conference” at which speakers who have previously advocated suicide bombing in the United Kingdom are addressing their audience.

Choudary and his associates must be arrested today.

UPDATE: Here is a video of last week’s Al Muhajiroun meeting. I very much hope that those shown attending this meeting are questioned to establish whether they are members of this organisation, and in any event, that they are kept under close surveilance.

UPDATE 2: Joseph K says

David T’s link to the Home Office list of organisations proscribed under the Terrorism Act 2000 doesn’t appear to be working, so here’s another.

Home Office: Proscribed terror groups.

As you can see, both Al Ghurabaa and the Saved Sect are on it. Both are offshoots of Al-Muhajiroun. They formed after Al-Muj disbanded in 2004, shortly after the Govt announced its intention to ban it.

After Al-Ghurabaa and the Saved Sect were banned in 2005, their supporters when on to form Ahlus Sunnah wal Jama’aah (ASWJ). It operated an invitation-only website, thought to have around 700 members. A Sunday Times reporter who infiltrated the site found calls for violent holy war and recordings from Osama Bin Laden; Ayman al-Zawahiri, his deputy; and terrorists from Iraq.

Islam4uk is simply the public face of ASWJ. The Islam4uk website carries a link explaining ASWJ, declaring it a “sect” within Islam.

The people involved in ASJW/Islam4uk all have a history with the above groups:

Anjem Choudary, along with Omar Bakri, was joint leader of Al-Muhajiroun.

Abu Uzair ( Sajid Sharif) is the former leader of The Saved Sect. Praised the 9/11 terrorists as “magnificent”.

Abu Waleed is linked to both Omar Bakri and Anjem Choudary through the latter’s London School of Shariah

Abu Yahya (Abdul Rahman Saleem) former Al-Muj spokesman and Saved Sect member. Currently serving three years for Incitement to Terrorism Overseas.

Sulayman Keeler (Simon Keeler) British convert. Founder of ASJW, former member of Al-Muj. Currently serving four years for terror fundraising and incitement to terrorism overseas.

Abu Izzadeen (Trevor Brooks) Former Al-Muj and Al-Ghurabaa spokesman. Currently serving four and a half years for terrorist fundraising and incitement to terrorism overseas

It should be apparent to all but the dimmest apologist for Islamism that ASJW / Islam4uk is merely Al-Muhajiroun / Al-Ghurabaa / The Saved Sect under another name.
